Charitable Aims

 

Our Charitable Aims
Sussex Open Centre is dedicated to help further the education of people living within the Sussex area. It does this by;

  • Enabling students to achieve meaningful qualifications that will help them in their future career
  • Providing financial assistance and advice to such persons to prepare them for or assist in their entry into a trade or profession.

SOCE Scholarships
Sussex Open Centre scholarships aim to provide assistance and advice to individuals living in the Sussex area to help them in their education or entry into a trade or profession.

SOCE offers two individual annual awards;

  1. Training fund of up to 500 per person or group
  2. Payment of a Cambridge English Language examination fee

To qualify for the Training Fund;

A person must have been in resident in Sussex for a minimum of three years.
It will be necessary to prove proof of residence.
A person must be currently studying or wish to study within the Sussex area.
If you wish to be considered for the training fund please email the centre the following information;
Your CV
An outline between 200 and 300 words of how the award would benefit you personally and how you would use it to benefit others.
Supporting documents from two referees.

To qualify for the payment of the Cambridge examination fee;
A person must be currently studying or wish to study within the Sussex area.
Please email the centre the following information;
An outline of between 200 and 300 words describing how passing a Cambridge examination would benefit you in your future career.

The awarding of scholarships will be judged on merit and is at the discretion of the Board of Sussex Open Centre.
